Thankful for Diversity


Last winter, Atlantans marched through Midtown in solidarity with the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre. Recent events had me thinking about this march, and the calendar has me feeling thankful to live in a city that celebrates diversity in good times and in bad.

I’m also thankful for the diverse landscapes and wildlife I’ve had a chance to enjoy this year. From the salt marsh and fiddler crabs at Wormsloe:


To dogwoods in bloom in Piedmont Park:


And whatever this is in the Chattahoochee National Forest:


I’m thankful to live in a society that is constructive and promotes sustainability:


And protects beautiful cultural expressions, like voodoo sidewalks and the marvelous Temple in Savannah:
